The sE Electronics sE7 Sidefire is a small-diaphragm, back-electret condenser microphone equally suitable for the studio as it is for the stage. Its optimized acoustic design, discrete Class A circuitry, and transformerless output work in tandem to deliver a clear, natural sound at all frequencies on any source. In fact, sound pros find that the signal path’s lack of ICs or transformers makes this mic a natural for recording a range of sounds.

Side-Address Design for Creative Miking

The SE7 SideFire rotates the SE7 capsule 90° to provide side-address operation, making it ideal for miking in tight or unconventional setups — inside toms, under cymbals, inside a piano lid, or amid clustered instrument arrangements. The ½″ back-electret true condenser capsule and cardioid polar pattern deliver precise, uncolored audio with excellent transient response and minimal sonic interference.

Optimized for High SPL and Tonal Flexibility

Equipped with a switchable –20 dB pad, the SideFire handles SPLs up to approximately 156 dB without distortion. A switchable 80 Hz low-cut filter (6 dB/octave) helps eliminate rumble and proximity boost when working close to loud sources. With low self-noise, wide dynamic range, and fast diaphragm response, it excels with acoustic instruments, percussion, piano, and string capture.

Compact Build & Field-Ready Features

Housed in an all-metal cylindrical body (~130 mm long × 23 mm Ø, ~163 g), the SideFire is rugged yet lightweight. It includes a mic clip, thread adapter, and foam windscreen for immediate usability. Its side-access design and robust construction make it especially versatile for stage, mobile, and studio environments where precise, clean placement matters.
